The OC

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS!!

Great comedy, endearing characters, and everything you love about teen dramas! I mostly love it because of the unique comedy stylings used in this show, especially by the character of Seth Cohen (I love him so much). If you liked Gossip Girl you should like this show (it was created by the same screenwriter). And weirdly enough the main characters of The OC, Seth Cohen(Adam Brody) and main character of Gossip Girl, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) are married in real life. If you also liked One Tree Hill, this show is often compared to it due to its similar themes of teen drama, however, unlike One Tree Hill, The OC has wayyyy more comedy in it. One Tree Hill is super heavy on the drama. Also, it has some of the best soundtracks (they released 6 total albums and they are still are on heavy rotation for me via Spotify now… but I used to own them all on CDs and on iTunes). You need to watch this show for so many reasons but also because this is the birthplace of the best holiday in the world Chrismukkah (a combination holiday of both Christmas and Hanukkah).

Synopsis: The series centers on Ryan Atwood, a troubled but gifted young man from a broken home who is adopted by the wealthy and philanthropic Sandy and Kirsten Cohen. Ryan and his foster brother Seth, a socially awkward yet quick-witted teenager, deal with life as outsiders in the high-class world of Newport Beach. Ryan and Seth spend much time navigating their relationships with girl-next-door Marissa Cooper, Seth's childhood crush Summer Roberts, and the fast-talking loner Taylor Townsend. Storylines deal with the culture clash between the idealistic Cohen family and the shallow, materialistic, and closed-minded community in which they reside. The series includes elements of postmodernism, and functions as a mixture of melodrama and comedy.

The Durrells

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS!!

It has drama, cheeky humor, and great heart!
Visit the quaint town of Corfu,
Greece in the mid-1930’s through the eyes of a quirky family that moves there from England. If you like British humor and drama, shows about families, or shows based on a real autobiographical story… this show is for you! This show is filled with dry cheeky British humor and amazing drama that many other iTV shows offer, unique animals, fantastic cinematographic scenery, offers an exploration of culture, life lessons, and more.
Side note: If you like graphic design, you should check out their title sequence for each season. It is amazing, I think! And each season it changes to show little depictions on what will happen throughout the season without giving it away! (Illustrated by Alex Maclean).

Synopsis: Louisa Durrell is an intrepid widow who decamps from dreary England to a sun-dappled Greek island with her four recalcitrant children, ages 11 to 21, on this adaptation of Gerald Durrell’s My Family and Other Animals and its two sequels. The family includes eldest son, Larry, a budding writer on his way to becoming the famous novelist Lawrence Durrell; son number two, Leslie, an impulsive firearms enthusiast; daughter Margo, sixteen and man-crazy; and eleven-year-old Gerry, who only has eyes for wildlife and grew up to be a world-renowned naturalist.

Summerland

After the time of Aunt Becky (Lori Loughlin) in Full House, before Jesse McCartney had any hit songs, before Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) was in High School (Musical)… there was the short-lived show called Summerland on the former CW network called The WB. Those are just some of the recognizable faces from this show. This has all the teen angsty drama set among the backdrop of a beach.

Synopsis: Fashion designer Ava Gregory (Lori Loughlin) has a pretty great life -- a good job, a sweet California beach house and a close-knit group of friends who have become like family to her. All of it gets tossed in the air, however, when her sister and brother-in-law die in a car accident and she takes in their three children: 16-year-old Bradin (Jesse McCartney), brooding 12-year-old Nikki (Kay Panabaker), and 8-year-old Derrick (Nick Benson). As the kids try to adjust to a new life without their parents, Ava has to come to terms with the responsibility she now bears.
